🅾 Hello World — MCP + Codex
Codex operating a real phone over MCP. Different brain, same 62-tool body — Ghost doesn’t care which agent holds the séance.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Ghost installed — or let
uvxfetch it on demand, no clone needed - A phone connected over ADB with USB debugging on (
adb devicesshows it) - Codex CLI installed
Step 1 — Register the MCP server
Section titled “Step 1 — Register the MCP server”codex mcp add android-agent -- uvx --from ghost-in-the-droid android-agent-mcpOne command. Codex now sees all 62 Ghost tools — screen reading, tapping, typing, app control, screenshots, skills.
Step 2 — Give it a job
Section titled “Step 2 — Give it a job”Start Codex and ask it, plain English:
Open the Reddit app on my phone and tell me the top post on r/LocalLLaMA.Codex plans, calls launch_app, reads the UI tree, taps through the app, and reports back — the phone does everything on its own screen, exactly like the video.
Step 3 — Verify
Section titled “Step 3 — Verify”Take a screenshot and describe what's on screen.If Codex tells you what your phone is showing, you’re wired up.
